About Ventura California


Ventura is located northwest of Los Angeles on the California coast, a beautiful city for surfing, especially Surfer's Point. Incorporated in 1866, the city of San Buenaventura (usually referred to as Ventura) is the county seat of Ventura County, California. Ventura has a population of 106,744. Ventura is accessible via U.S. Route 101, California State Route 33, and California State Route 126. Downtown Ventura is home to the Mission San Buenaventura, museums, galleries, dining, and shopping. Primary areas of activity include California Street and Main Street between Ventura Avenue and First Street. Ventura California real estate consists of a variety of single-family homes, condos and townhouses, which offer easy access to the excellent beaches Ventura County has to offer.
 

Ventura Demographics


There were 38,524 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the city was $52,298, and the median income for a family was $60,466. Males had a median income of $43,828 versus $31,793 for females. The per capita income for the city was $25,065. About 6.4% of families and 9.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.2% of those under age 18 and 5.3% of those age 65 or over. 


Ventura Schools


With several schools for each age group, it doesn't matter where you live in Ventura, there is always a school local to you! There are 19 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 5 highschools, as well as a community college. For students looking to go to a CSU,  Channel Islands university is a short 15 minute drive away in Camarillo.

Looking for something to do in Ventura? It doesn't take long to find something fun! Ventura has some of the best beaches in the United States. Whether you are looking to go surfing, kite boarding, or just wanting to lay out in the sun, there is beach for you! Take a stroll down the Ventura Promenade and onto Ventura's pier to enjoy the fresh sea air. Then head downtown to go shopping, or to one of the many fine resteraunts. Looking for nightlife and live music? Downtown has you covered with many open mic nights as well as the historic Ventura Theatre, which hosts a bounty of bands new and old. Ventura also has several hiking trails, community parks, and community pools for those that are looking to pursue a more active lifestyle Want to get away? Don't forget that Ventura is just a short hour drive to Santa Barbara or downtown Los Angeles!
